The day our friend and neighbor Harvey Church showed up with his D8 CAT was a hard day for us. It was the day we would cut a road through the virgin soil of the land that would soon become “Timber Butte Ranch”. It was hard watching that huge machine open a scar across unblemished land that was so natural, and beautiful.Harvey took great care to build a road that would follow the contour of the land so that one day it would look as if it belonged there. After only one year the scar did heal and the road he built appeared like a country lane passing the pond and winding to the entry of our new homestead. It has been my experience in life that God has a miraculous way of turning bad things around for good; taking the pain in our life and using it to build character. [See Romans 8:26-28].
