Navy Wings of Gold is one of the best books ever written on WWII.  It is a first hand account of true acts of heroism focusing primarily on air combat in the South Pacific.  This book was written by my father and is truly an amazing historical  narrative.  http://www.navywingsofgold.com/robinson.htm
